Acacia Federal Names Rob Jacobs Chief Lending Officer;
John Mortimer Becomes SVP Secondary Marketing

Falls Church, Virginia (May 30, 2008) – Acacia Federal Savings Bank announces two executive-level promotions: Rob Jacobs is now executive vice president and chief lending officer, while John Mortimer has been appointed senior vice president, secondary marketing.

New Leadership at Acacia Federal
James Barber Elected Chairman - Meyer Retires

Falls Church, Virginia (January 20, 2008) - Acacia Federal Savings Bank starts the New Year with a new management team. James B. Barber has been elected chairman and chief executive officer of Acacia Federal, while Louis C. Kiessling, III has been elected president and chief operating officer. Both will join the board of directors.

The change became effective January 2 upon the retirement of F. Weller Meyer, chairman, president and CEO. Meyer, a Potomac resident, headed the bank for more than 20 years. He will remain active in the industry as 2008 president of the Federal Reserve's Thrift Institutions Advisory Council (TIAC). He will also serve as vice chairman of Acacia Federal during 2008.

James Barber was a member of the original management team that helped Meyer change Acacia Federal from a struggling new bank of the 80's to a profitable bank in the 90's ... and on to record-breaking years of profits and over $1.5 billion in assets. He served most recently as executive vice president and chief lending officer. The Washington, D.C. resident serves on the board of Wesley Housing Development Corporation.

Lou Kiessling, previously executive vice president and chief financial officer, brought substantial experience from Loyola Federal, Crestar Bank and SunTrust Bank to Acacia Federal when he joined as senior vice president and chief financial officer in 2000. He helped lead Acacia's expansion between 2001 and 2006, when the bank's assets and its net income essentially doubled. A resident of Oakton, Va., Kiessling is a board member of the Northern Virginia Community Foundation.

Acacia Federal (AcaciaFederal.com) is located in Falls Church, Va. The bank is a member of the UNIFI Companies, a group of life insurance and financial services firms offering services to individuals, families and businesses.

Acacia Federal Chairman Named President of
Federal Reserve's Thrift Institutions Advisory Council

First Member to Hold Top Position Twice

Falls Church, VA (December 17, 2007) F. Weller Meyer, chairman, president & CEO of Acacia Federal Savings Bank, has been named president of the Thrift Institutions Advisory Council (TIAC) to the Federal Reserve. He served as vice president in 2007.

Meyer is the first in the council's history to hold the post twice. In 2000, he served as president in an extended term, following a year as vice president and one as general member.

Established in 1980, TIAC is an advisory group made up of 12 representatives from America's thrift institutions - savings and loans, savings banks, and credit unions. Each member serves for two years.

The council meets several times each year with the Board of Governors to advise the Federal Reserve on housing, economic and monetary policy. Mortgage market stabilization and reform is likely to be a key topic in 2008.

Meyer, a Potomac, Md. resident, is a past chairman of America's Community Bankers and director of Acacia Federal Savings Bank, Calvert Group Ltd. and IOMAI Corporation.

Acacia Federal (AcaciaFederal.com) is located in Falls Church, Va. The bank is a member of the UNIFI Companies, a group of life insurance and financial services firms offering services to individuals, families and businesses.

Acacia Federal Doubles Mortgage Sales Division Hiring Follows Three Record Months

Falls Church, Virginia (October 1, 2007) - At a time when many financial companies are reducing mortgage staff, Acacia Federal of Falls Church has been hiring. The bank added 12 representatives in September, doubling their team for that division.

The move follows three months in record mortgage volume for the bank, from June through August.

Most of the new hires came from the McLean, Va. office of American Home Mortgage, the nationwide lender which filed for bankruptcy in July. "Adding a cohesive group of performers allowed us to increase our capabilities rapidly," says Mike Bikowski, senior vice president of mortgage production.

Many of the representatives came with transactions in progress, which helped roll the high closure volume into September.

"As a conservative bank, we find the best strategy is often counter-cyclical," says James Barber, executive vice president. "We verify loan information, keep a close relationship with the customer and keep much of the business in our own portfolio."

This stability allows the bank to provide an attractive source of funds as other options close up. "We're looking for a bigger portion of a softer market," summarizes Barber.

Founded in 1985, Acacia Federal is a member of the UNIFI Companies, a group of insurance and financial services firms. The bank, which has over $1.4 billion in assets, is active in the mortgage, real estate development and commercial lending markets.

Falls Church and Vienna Students Honored for work ethic, dedication

Falls Church, VA (June 15, 2007) – Acacia Federal Savings Bank has awarded $1,500 scholarships to graduating George C. Marshall High School seniors Will Blakeley and Eugenia Joya. Chosen from more than two dozen applicants, the two best demonstrated criteria based on the bank’s corporate philosophy of “Hard work. High standards. Helping others.”

This is the first year Acacia Federal – a recognized partner of Marshall High School – awarded scholarships to Marshall students. Blakeley was one of six (6) finalists for the scholarship awarded to a graduating senior of Marshall High School, and Joya was one of seven (7) finalists for the scholarship awarded to a graduating senior of The Marshall Academy.

"This was a very tough decision for us," said Ellen Ingson, a member of the Acacia Federal Scholarship Committee that reviewed the resumes and essays of the finalists and conducted face-to-face interviews with the students. "All the students we spoke with were very impressive in terms of how they presented themselves and their accomplishments thus far. We could have awarded the scholarships to just about any of the finalists and they are all to be congratulated, but Will and Eugenia really stood out to us as a Committee."

Blakeley will continue his education this fall at Dayton University in Dayton, Ohio, while Joya will be attending NOVA Community College in Fairfax, Virginia.
